Building with AI

Somewhere between building DateFlo and rebuilding this very website, AI stopped being a tool I occasionally used and became the way I work. I use Claude and Claude Code every day, not as a chatbot but as a working partner I direct. I set the vision, the standards, and the taste, then orchestrate the AI through every step of design, code, content, and operations.

The proof is all over this portfolio. The website you are reading right now was designed and built through Claude Code under my direction, from the scrapbook design language on the home page to the interactive Skills and Hobbies experience where every hobby is its own little machine. Everything you see here, I shaped, reviewed, and shipped.

DateFlo is where I pushed it furthest. I built an automated planning pipeline where AI drafts each couple’s date night through staged scripts and multiple judgment passes before a person gives the final review. And for the boldest experiment, I set up an AI voice assistant on a real phone line, built on Vapi, that handled real calls to book restaurant reservations, with every call logged into the product’s database.

People assume working with AI means pressing a button and hoping. It is closer to being a director. I learned to break big goals into stages, write instructions precise enough to be followed and honest enough to keep quality from drifting, and review everything with taste. None of that came from a class. It came from hundreds of hours of building real things, shipping them, breaking them, and fixing them. It is also how I became highly proficient in website design. AI is moving fast, and I plan to keep moving with it.

• Prompt and System Design: Writing staged pipelines, precise instructions, and guardrails that keep AI output reliable, including review gates and quality checklists.

• Voice AI: Set up an AI voice assistant on a real phone line for DateFlo, built on Vapi, handling reservation calls that logged straight into the product’s database.

• Website Design and Development: Designed and shipped qudsi.site and dateflo.com end to end with Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, animation, and SEO.

• Automation: Scheduled, cron driven workflows that run without me touching them, with human review exactly where it matters.

• Taste and Editing: The underrated half of AI work. Knowing what good looks like, and rejecting everything that is not.
